The Factory Echanges Marchés develops and operates applications that process metering data and support market exchanges for the Belgian energy market. This role focuses on the Market Communicator & Orchestrator (a custom Azure application) that handles SMR3 and prepayment message flows; key skills include advanced SQL and experience with testing tools such as HPQC.
The mission
The Factory is responsible for consumption calculations, asset management and contract-related processes, plus orchestration of market messages and communication with external platforms. The team is involved in the companywide smart metering transformation and maintains several market-facing services built on Microsoft Azure, including a custom orchestrator for SMR3 and prepayment flows.
You will join the team to own functional analysis and RUN activities for the Market Communicator & Orchestrator and related applications. Your primary work will be incident and problem handling, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, executing and supervising integration and end-to-end tests, and proposing medium-term improvements to reduce recurring maintenance costs. You will run workshops with business stakeholders and collaborate daily with developers and monitoring teams.
Your responsibilities
- Lead functional analysis and translate business requirements into clear user stories and UML/BPMN artefacts that developers and testers can act on
- Reduce operational load by identifying recurring maintenance tasks, proposing durable solutions and producing cost/benefit analyses
- Coordinate testing and validation activities, using HPQC or an equivalent test management tool, to ensure integration and functional test coverage
- Drive incident resolution by analysing production logs, reproducing issues, and working with developers to implement fixes and workarounds during RUN
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder communication to keep business, development and operations aligned on priorities and service status
- Document functional specifications, runbooks and acceptance criteria, and estimate functional effort for change requests and projects
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 3 years as a functional analyst in the energy market, with practical exposure to market processes
- Advanced SQL skills, able to write diagnostic queries against production datasets
- Proven experience with a test management tool such as HPQC or equivalent, and with integration and functional testing methodologies
- Practical knowledge of MIG6 processes and of SMR3 / prepayment flows
- Ability to produce and read UML diagrams (use case, sequence) and BPMN diagrams (Visio, Sparx EA or equivalent)
- Strong workshop facilitation, written documentation and stakeholder communication skills
- Language: French C2, English B1
- Ability to travel to site locations, UK or EU driving licence and vehicle for site access where public transport is limited
Preferred skills
- Experience with Sparx EA or equivalent modelling tools
- Familiarity with backlog tools (Azure DevOps, Jira), Application Insights and Microsoft Azure portal
- Knowledge of prepayment (PPP) and SMART processes, and familiarity with MECOMS, Microsoft Dynamics AX or Software AG
