A federal public-sector IT department delivers and operates business applications that support social security processes for self-employed professionals. This role exists to ensure production stability and to act as the single point of contact for a set of business applications, combining hands-on .Net development, Oracle SQL query work and operational tasks in an agile team environment.
The mission
The Application Owner / Ops Engineer will join a multidisciplinary scrum team within an IT department of more than 150 people, working on the lifecycle of business-critical applications. The technical landscape includes .Net applications, Oracle databases, Windows Server hosts, Azure DevOps Server for build and release, and Dynatrace for monitoring. The work matters because these applications support ongoing administrative processes and must remain available and compliant while new features are delivered.
Day to day you will be responsible for production monitoring, incident analysis and resolution, and validating fixes and releases together with developers and testers. You will act as the SPOC for your applications with ServiceNow ticketing, liaise with the helpdesk and business stakeholders, and contribute to continuous delivery tasks in Azure DevOps Server. As a junior role you will also take part in small code changes, write and optimise SQL queries, produce runbooks and technical documentation, and assist in automated deployment and basic CI/CD pipeline maintenance.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure production stability by monitoring application components, reporting health metrics and escalating systematic issues to the team.
- Resolve incidents from identification through analysis, correction, testing and communication to business stakeholders using ServiceNow.
- Validate and test fixes and releases, participate in release activities and verify post-release behaviour to guarantee stable production operation.
- Develop or adapt small code changes in .Net and write or optimise Oracle SQL queries to support incident resolution and feature delivery.
- Maintain operational artefacts: runbooks, deployment notes and documentation for handover and audits.
- Collaborate within the scrum team on backlog items, attend ceremonies and support continuous improvement of deployment and monitoring practices.
