A major Belgian financial institution is digitising its Invest product range and needs a Business Analyst to translate business strategy into deliverable requirements using conceptual modelling and requirements management. The role sits in the Portfolio Management Systems squad, working on the portfolio management application for advisory and discretionary investment services, collaborating closely with product owners, UX designers and IT architects.
The mission
The squad manages an end-to-end portfolio management application used by advisory and discretionary investment teams and their clients, running on a mix of business process tooling and core banking integrations. The programme focuses on making the Invest offer more accessible through digital channels while ensuring regulatory compliance and reliable testing, with incremental deliveries across upcoming quarters.
You will work day-to-day inside a cross-functional squad of product, UX and engineering specialists, supporting backlog refinement, defining acceptance criteria and documenting solutions. Your responsibilities include estimating value and effort for initiatives, designing solution concepts with architects and process experts, and ensuring delivered features meet business needs and test acceptance criteria.
Your responsibilities
- Translate complex business needs into clear, testable requirements and conceptual models that guide development and validation, ensuring value realisation.
- Collaborate with the (Cluster) Product Owner to define product concepts, OKRs and prioritised backlog items, contributing to business case assessments.
- Design and validate end-to-end solutions together with IT architects and process experts, ensuring regulatory and operational constraints are addressed.
- Drive stakeholder alignment across product, channels and operations teams, communicating trade-offs and progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Support QA and testing activities by defining acceptance criteria, participating in test reviews and closing functional gaps during sprint reviews.
- Monitor feature scope during development and coordinate refinements to preserve business intent and expected outcomes.
Your profile
Essential skills
- At least 5 years of business analysis experience in a banking, investment or financial services environment, with proven delivery in product-led teams.
- Strong capability with conceptual modelling techniques and methods to represent processes, data flows and user journeys.
- Demonstrable experience in requirements management, writing user stories, acceptance criteria and maintaining traceability.
- Comfortable with IT concepts and testing practices, able to work with architects and QA to verify solutions.
- Proficient in MS Office for stakeholder reporting and documentation, including clear presentation of analysis and recommendations.
- Able to work effectively in a cross-functional agile squad and to facilitate stakeholder workshops.
Preferred skills
- Practical understanding of workflow and process automation tools and how they integrate with investment platforms.
