A payments team in a major Belgian financial institution runs product development and change for cards and related services, and this role exists to strengthen the link between business strategy and technical delivery. You will apply technical experience and cards product management knowledge to monitor product performance (revenues, market share, NPS), evaluate change requests, and translate business needs into IT requirements.
The mission
The team manages cards products and services used by retail and business customers, tracking market trends and competitive moves in the Belgian cards ecosystem. The work covers product lifecycle tasks such as product improvements, regulatory changes, new acceptance methods and integrations with wallets and third party schemes, with outcomes measured in revenue impact and customer satisfaction.
You will work inside a cross-functional squad as the primary business analyst for cards product management. Day to day you will define business scope and target operating models, write business requirements and acceptance criteria, run Business Acceptance Testing (BAT), and act as the interface between stakeholders, product owners and IT. Your work will feed project roadmaps and product backlogs and help the organisation decide between implementation options.
Your responsibilities
- Lead analysis of product performance and market signals to propose measurable product improvements that increase revenue or NPS
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear business requirements, acceptance criteria and user stories for IT delivery
- Coordinate solution identification with the squad and evaluate implementation options from both business and technical perspectives
- Manage and validate change delivery, including business acceptance testing and stakeholder sign-off
- Communicate findings and trade-offs to senior stakeholders, ensuring decisions reflect regulatory and operational constraints
- Support backlog prioritisation and work closely with product owners during agile delivery cycles
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a business analyst or similar role in a cards environment
- Proven technical experience bridging business and IT for card products and services
- Deep business knowledge of cards industry players, trends and card product processes, preferably in Belgium
- Ability to define business scope, target operating models, and detailed acceptance criteria
- Strong written and spoken English (C1) and ability to interact with senior stakeholders
- Analytical, structured and quality-minded approach to requirements and testing
Preferred skills
- Familiarity with cards systems and architecture
- Experience in project management or as a Product Owner in a cards business
- Experience working with agile methodology and backlog management
- Knowledge of alternative payment methods such as Wero and Apple Pay
