A major Belgian social security organisation is migrating functionality out of a legacy benefits system. This role exists to analyse requirements and define the functional solution for the external benefits domain, using BPMN process models and UML where needed, and to coordinate the project delivery from analysis through implementation.
The mission
The project is a structured migration of external benefits from an ageing application into a new application landscape, driven by a cross-functional programme involving business architects, program managers and several IT teams. The technical landscape includes a small delivery squad (Team Scarlet) composed of one senior developer and three junior developers, with work focused on process analysis, functional specifications and incremental implementation in an agile cadence.
Day to day you will combine business analysis and project coordination. You will map and optimise end-to-end processes using BPMN, produce clear UML or functional specifications for developers, and maintain the product backlog and migration plan. You will act as the primary liaison between benefit owners, architects and the development team, track risks and dependencies, and run the change management activities that prepare stakeholders and end users for the new solution.
Your responsibilities
- Lead requirements analysis and deliver clear functional specifications that enable the development team to implement the external benefits functionality.
- Drive process modelling and optimisation using BPMN and UML to reduce manual steps and clarify handovers between teams.
- Coordinate the migration project schedule, monitor milestones, and escalate risks to ensure timely, quality delivery.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to validate requirements, secure decisions and manage expectations across business and IT.
- Implement change management activities including communication plans, training input and acceptance criteria to ensure smooth adoption.
- Maintain and refine the backlog in an agile process, supporting sprint planning and acceptance testing with the delivery squad.
