The organisation's reporting backbone lives in an ageing SAP BI universe while a new Power BI estate must support daily operational decisions without missing a beat. As Business Information Analyst (50%) you will use Power BI and SAP BI expertise to rebuild dimensional models, create DAX-powered datasets and carry complex reports across that migration boundary.
The Mission
You will join a BI programme inside a major public utility responsible for hundreds of treatment and pumping assets. The current landscape is a SQL-based data warehouse, an established SAP BI semantic layer and an evolving Power BI platform that must serve operations, compliance and HR reporting for hundreds of internal users. Getting this right reduces manual reconciliations, speeds up decision cycles and protects regulatory reporting.
In this 50% role you own the translation from business questions to production datasets and dashboards. You will design dimensional models for Power BI, draft clear briefs for data engineers, and deliver the most complex reports used by field teams and management. Your work will be central to the migration from SAP BI to Power BI and to ensuring the BI layer remains the single source of truth.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the migration from SAP BI to Power BI, delivering KPI parity, improved query performance and no break in operational reporting
- Design and deliver dimensional data models and semantic layers that enable fast, reusable Power BI datasets and reduce report duplication
- Translate business needs into data engineering briefs, documenting table lineage, transformation rules and acceptance criteria
- Build and maintain datasets, complex DAX measures and dashboards in Power BI that provide actionable insights for operations and management
- Maintain and rationalise existing universes and semantic artefacts to improve maintainability and data quality
- Coach Data and Reporting Analysts on visualization best practices, dataset reuse and performance tuning
Your Profile
Essential Skills
- Senior BI experience with a proven track record delivering end-to-end Power BI solutions, including modeling, DAX and visualization
- Hands-on experience with SAP BI universe design and migration activities
- Solid knowledge of data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling for Power BI and ETL logic
- Proficient SQL skills for data profiling, joins and dataset preparation
- Ability to quickly absorb operational business logic and translate it into concise technical requirements
- Clear communicator who can negotiate trade-offs with stakeholders and coordinate closely with data engineers
