This role sits inside a public-sector organisation responsible for urban water services and exists to translate the organisation's data strategy into operational solutions. The assignment focuses on data architecture, data modelling and governance work, using BPMN to connect process descriptions to data lineation and Power BI for integrated reporting, alongside SAP ECC6 / SAP S/4 HANA interfaces.
The mission
The programme covers governance, reporting and automation at organisation scale, with delivery coordinated with the Data Manager. The technical landscape includes ETL pipelines, a central data storage layer, SQL-based reporting and data cubes, and integration points to SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4 HANA. Work follows compliance rules for GDPR, ISO27001 and NIS2 and will support a multi-year rollout, initially planned as an assignment of roughly 440 days spread over about two years.
On a day-to-day basis you will define business data solutions and the target data architecture, align data lineation with BPMN process maps, and act as PMO for governance-related initiatives. You will prioritise and steer reporting automation projects, define whether reporting is centralised or distributed across business units, and coach stakeholders on change management to embed a data culture. You will interact frequently with IT teams to translate business needs into Power BI dashboards and SQL-based data cubes.
Your responsibilities
- Define and deliver business data solutions that enable integrated reporting, analytics and automation, ensuring ETL, data storage and SQL designs meet business SLAs
- Lead the extension of data governance, acting as PMO for governance initiatives and maintaining the link between data lineation and BPMN process descriptions
- Design and validate the target data architecture and data models, including interfaces to SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4 HANA
- Prioritise and steer reporting development, coordinating with IT to implement Power BI reports, data cubes and automated pipelines
- Drive change management activities to raise data awareness across departments and reduce information silos
- Ensure compliance and test management practices are in place for data flows, meeting GDPR, ISO27001 and NIS2 requirements

Essential skills
- Senior-level experience defining business data solutions, data modelling and enterprise data architecture
- Practical experience mapping processes with BPMN and linking process descriptions to data lineation
- Proven track record delivering integrated reporting: ETL design, data storage, SQL and data cubes, and building Power BI dashboards
- Experience integrating with SAP ECC6 and SAP S/4 HANA for master and transactional data
- Capability to run PMO activities for governance programmes and to manage test plans for data projects
- Strong change management and stakeholder coaching skills to promote data governance and culture
