A Customer Data Analyst role inside a major Belgian financial institution's Customer Analysis team, focused on turning customer data into validated hypotheses and actionable recommendations. You will work hands-on with SAS EG, SQL, Python and Power BI to extract, transform and visualise customer behaviour and product holdings across retail banking and insurance lines, supporting commercial and product stakeholders.
The mission
The team operates as the central analytics hub for customer insight, combining transactional datasets, product portfolios and campaign results to inform acquisition, retention and product design decisions. The technical landscape includes SAS EG for data wrangling, SQL and Python for transformation and exploratory analysis, and Power BI for recurring dashboards and ad-hoc reports. This is a medior data analyst role within a multidisciplinary Customer Analysis team that regularly delivers analyses used by relationship managers and product owners.
Day to day you will translate business questions into testable hypotheses, locate and prepare the required data sources, and run analyses that lead to clear recommendations. You will produce concise slide decks and Power BI reports that explain key findings and recommended actions, and you will collaborate with data engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to ensure analyses are production-ready and reproducible.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based recommendations that influence customer approach, product features or campaign targeting, measured by improvement in defined business KPIs
- Translate stakeholder questions into focused hypotheses and analysis plans, ensuring the right variables and data sources are used
- Extract, clean and transform datasets using SAS EG, SQL and Python to create analysis-ready tables and feeds
- Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that are used by commercial teams and risk managers
- Produce clear, to-the-point slide decks with conclusions and prioritized recommendations for business stakeholders
- Contribute to reproducibility by documenting data lineage and collaborating on version control practices (Gitlab where available)
Your profile
Essential skills
- At least 4 years of experience as a data analyst with a track record of delivering business impact in financial services
- Strong practical experience with SAS EG, SQL and Python for data preparation and analysis
- Proficient in Power BI for reporting and dashboarding
- Solid understanding of bank and insurance products and how customer behaviours map to those products
- Able to translate complex analyses into concise recommendations and business-focused storytelling
Preferred skills
- Experience with Gitlab or similar version control and CI workflows
