A mid-size team in the Belgian banking sector is running a Data Hub initiative to consolidate reporting and analytics across insurance and retail products. This role exists to translate business requests into validated data solutions, using conceptual modelling, big data and business intelligence (BI) techniques to deliver dashboards and operational reports that support product owners and data architects.
The mission
The project coordinates data flows from multiple legacy sources into a central data platform, aiming to improve data quality for reporting and dashboarding used by thousands of internal users. The technical landscape includes big data concepts, BI tools for reporting, and agile delivery with product owners and architects. Work focuses on definitional clarity, requirements traceability and testable acceptance criteria.
On a day-to-day basis you will act as the initiative owner for specific use cases: mapping existing data flows and user roles, identifying data quality issues, co-creating target models, and defining MVPs for analytics. You will work closely with product owners, architects and SMEs to turn business needs into test conditions, support UAT and performance testing, and validate solutions before production handover.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the translation of business needs into concrete data models and BI requirements, ensuring traceability from request to delivery
- Drive end-to-end validation by defining test cases for product, performance and UAT testing and coordinating execution with technical teams
- Identify and prioritise data quality issues and propose corrective actions that improve reporting accuracy and dashboard reliability
- Coordinate with product owners and architects to design target data solutions and validate prototypes against business acceptance criteria
- Produce clear reporting artefacts and dashboards in collaboration with BI developers, and prepare change management material for stakeholders
- Maintain backlog items, support sprint planning and contribute to iterative delivery of MVPs
Your profile
Essential skills
- 4+ years of hands-on experience as a data analyst or business/data analyst in a business intelligence or big data environment
- Solid command of conceptual modelling techniques and methods, ability to produce logical and physical data models
- Practical knowledge of BI, reporting and dashboarding requirements and how they map to data platforms
- Experience with IT testing and defining UAT, performance and regression test conditions
- Comfortable working in agile teams, managing backlog items and planning sprints with a product mindset
- Proficient with MS Office (advanced Excel for data checks, PowerPoint for stakeholder reporting)
- Good business acumen and structured analytical thinking, able to manage multiple stakeholders
Preferred skills
- Project management experience and strong requirements management skills
- Understanding of workflow processes and banking products, insurance domain experience is a plus
