A major corporate banking team delivers reporting and dashboards to Sales, risk and management users and is now consolidating its preparation layer. This role exists to modernise and stabilise data preparation pipelines built primarily in Alteryx, and to optimise SQL Server data transformations using Transact-SQL before those datasets feed reporting and visualization tools. You will work closely with data engineers, BI analysts and business stakeholders on a program that reduces duplication, improves data quality and raises automation across the stack.
The mission
The programme focuses on the corporate banking data preparation environment that feeds dashboards and ad hoc reports used by Sales, métiers and management. The current landscape contains federated staging data, legacy Alteryx workflows and some SAS components; the objective is to centralise transformation logic, harmonise retention and historization rules, and introduce reusable macros and testing to reduce technical debt.
On a day-to-day basis you will review existing Alteryx flows, refactor transformations into maintainable components, and implement SQL Server improvements in Transact-SQL. You will validate changes with end users, maintain versioning with Git or SVN, and extend monitoring and release automation so downstream dashboards keep working without regressions. The role sits within a data engineering squad that collaborates with several business product owners and BI teams.
Your responsibilities
- Improve maintainability by refactoring legacy Alteryx workflows into reusable macros and components, reducing duplicated logic across pipelines
- Harden data quality and integration by implementing robust Transact-SQL transformations, validation checks and monitoring for datasets sourced from multiple systems
- Reduce technical debt by identifying and retiring obsolete datasets and workflows, and harmonising historization and retention rules
- Automate and stabilise releases by extending CI/CD practices for ETL deployments and introducing pre-deployment quality checks
- Collaborate with business users to validate functional impact of changes, ensuring no regression for dashboards and ad hoc reports
- Document dataset schemas, transformation logic and operational runbooks to improve discoverability and handover
