A major Belgian financial institution is expanding its central data engineering capability to deliver governed data assets for reporting, analytics and internal applications. This role sits on a cross-functional team that designs and industrialises data flows and data models, with hands-on work in modelisation and PowerDesigner to produce reliable, documented data stores for bank-wide consumption.
The mission
The team consolidates source systems into integrated data stores used by reporting, BI teams and product teams, with a focus on traceability, lineage and reusability. You will work on logical and physical data models, define mapping rules from golden sources, and contribute to the industrialisation of data pipelines that feed data warehouses, datamarts and curated data sets.
Day to day you will collect and validate business requirements with stakeholders, prototype data solutions to support business validation, and translate approved designs into production models and feeding processes. Your outputs will be consumed across functions, so you will document models in PowerDesigner, define access rules, and ensure delivered data assets meet governance and security expectations.
Your responsibilities
- Design and deliver logical and physical data models that reduce duplication and support multiple reporting and analytics use cases
- Translate business requirements into mapping rules and technical specifications that pinpoint golden sources and transformation logic
- Prototype data flows and datasets to enable fast business validation and iterate on model decisions
- Industrialise ETL/ELT processes and data deliveries so models run reliably in production and can be reused across teams
- Document lineage, metadata and access patterns in PowerDesigner to support governance and handover
- Communicate design choices and trade offs to business stakeholders and data consumers, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements
