A large Belgian financial institution's Accounting & Reporting Solutions team maintains and evolves finance systems that feed ALM group reporting. This role exists to analyse, improve and validate the Data Quality Controls applied to extra-accounting ALM data, using SQL and Excel to trace data flows from source systems through OFS to the ALM reporting tool AGAPES.
The mission
The team manages local finance system functionalities, regulatory and management reporting, and integrates Group-level controls into local processes. The work covers ALM data definitions, control implementation in COMET, and dashboarding of KPI controls used by ALM and Finance Data Managers. Typical scale: cross-system data flows across operating ledgers, OFS extracts and AGAPES reports, with stakeholders in Accounting, ALM and Management Control.
Day to day you will analyse existing data quality controls, run SQL-based investigations and produce remediation plans that can be implemented in sourcing systems, OFS or COMET. You will author clear business requirements for IT, coordinate and execute tests, update Tableau dashboards for KPI visibility, and report progress to Management and the Data Quality community. This is a senior role requiring close stakeholder management across multiple finance teams and occasional coordination with Group-level teams.
Your responsibilities
- Lead root-cause investigations into data anomalies detected by ALM controls and deliver clear remediation plans.
- Produce and validate business requirements and test cases for IT changes that affect ALM reporting and OFS sourcing.
- Deliver data analysis and automated checks using SQL, Access and Excel to verify control outcomes and measure improvements.
- Update and improve KPI dashboards in Tableau and support data visualization for ALM and Finance stakeholders.
- Coordinate testing cycles, compare delivered results against expected outcomes, and document test evidence and procedures.
- Communicate status and decisions proactively to Management, ALM teams and Finance Data Managers; represent use cases in Data Quality forums.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 6 years experience in a data quality or functional analyst role within a financial institution.
- Strong SQL, Access and advanced Excel capability to interrogate and reconcile large datasets.
- Proven knowledge of ALM data and processes and practical experience validating data quality controls.
- Clear business analysis skills: writing business requirements, defining test cases and documenting solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Preferred skills
- Experience with COMET, OFS (general accounting system), AGAPES, Business Objects or Cognos.
- Familiarity with Tableau, scripting for automation, and data analytics or data visualization techniques.
- Background in banking accounting or regulatory reporting is a plus.
