A Data Visualisation Specialist will join the OPC Control and Reporting Factory inside the operational control function of a major Belgian financial institution to develop and maintain business reporting and dashboards. The role focuses on data visualisation and dashboard design using Power BI and Tableau, and on preparing data from data warehouses and data marts so that control teams can monitor regulatory, strategic and operational indicators.
The mission
This team delivers recurring and ad-hoc reporting used by control and business stakeholders across multiple lines, including regulatory and tactical reports. The technical landscape includes DataWarehouses and DataMarts, ETL and data extraction processes, and reporting tooling such as Power BI, Tableau and advanced Excel; work follows the organisation's data governance and security rules.
On a day-to-day basis you will capture stakeholder requirements, prototype visualisations, and take dashboards through the full lifecycle: develop, optimise, publish and decommission. You will work closely with data engineers to turn prototypes into sustainable data assets, promote reuse and consistency across reports, and ensure reports align with the wider data strategy and governance standards.
Your responsibilities
- Translate stakeholder questions into clear dashboard designs and prototypes that support decision making and risk control
- Prepare and transform data from data warehouses and marts to support automated, repeatable reports
- Develop, optimise and publish Power BI and Tableau dashboards, ensuring performance and security standards are met
- Collaborate with data engineers to move prototypes to production-ready data models and promote reusable data assets
- Enforce and document reporting best practices and data governance rules, and train users on how to read and maintain dashboards
- Produce and maintain periodic OPC reporting and contribute to optimisation projects that introduce new technologies for reporting
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 5 years experience working on business reporting and dashboards, with a medior-level profile
- Ability to prepare data for visualisation, design dashboard narratives and support decision making
- Practical knowledge of data concepts such as data warehouses, data marts, ETL and data extraction processes
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau and advanced Excel for reporting and dashboarding
- Strong understanding of data governance, data security and how reporting fits within a data strategy
- Business experience in translating operational or control requirements into reporting solutions
- Clear communicator able to present complex data and negotiate with internal stakeholders
Preferred skills
- Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with SAS
- Experience scripting or automating data preparation with Python
- Prior experience in banking or financial services and familiarity with GDPR compliance
