Within the IT organisation of a major Belgian financial group, the Senior IT Finance Controller role provides financial visibility and cost governance for shared IT services supporting multiple entities and external partners. The position focuses on financial controlling and financial analysis for IT operations, translating technical commitments and contracts into accurate forecasts and reports, and relies on strong Excel and accounting and financial reporting skills.
The mission
The IT organisation operates as a shared service hub with cross-entity cost allocations, multiple supplier contracts and complex operating models for infrastructure, software and external services. Ensuring financial transparency, accurate forecasting and disciplined cost management of IT activities is essential to control spend across projects and production operations.
Day to day you will own financial planning and forecasting cycles for IT, monitor committed versus invoiced costs, and provide variance analysis between budget, forecast and actuals. You will work with IT delivery leads, procurement and central finance to maintain Purchase Order controls, validate invoices against contracts and improve cost classification and allocation across services.
Your responsibilities
- Drive accurate financial forecasts and periodic re-forecasts for IT activities, ensuring forecasts reflect contractual commitments and operational plans
- Provide actionable variance analysis and reporting that enables budget holders and IT managers to control costs and make prioritisation decisions
- Manage Purchase Orders and commitments for IT, ensuring traceability from contract to invoice and maintaining a reliable view of committed versus invoiced spend
- Implement and maintain cost allocation rules and classification for IT services so cross-entity recharges are consistent and auditable
- Improve financial processes and governance within IT by documenting controls, proposing efficiency gains and supporting internal audit activities
- Communicate financial position and risks to technical and finance stakeholders, converting technical information into clear financial implications
Your profile
Essential skills
- 15+ years of relevant finance experience, with demonstrated seniority in financial controlling or financial management
- Strong capability in financial analysis, budgets, forecasts and cost monitoring across operational and project expenditure
- Proven experience in contract management, purchase order control and reconciliation of committed versus invoiced costs
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, accounting and financial reporting and advanced Excel skills for modelling and analysis
- Ability to translate technical IT commitments into financial terms, collaborate with cross-functional teams and present clear conclusions to stakeholders
- Personal qualities: accuracy, strong analytical thinking, organisational sensitivity, autonomy, pragmatic problem solving and clear communication

- Prior experience working inside an IT environment or with IT service cost models
