A medior functional analyst will join a large programme delivering new and refactored business applications for a major Belgian public-sector organisation. The team works across business process modelling, requirements-to-test cycles and stakeholder workshops, so experience with Agile / Scrum and BPMN will be used day to day.
The mission
The programme is a multi-year business transformation with a department of about 90 people responsible for handing over, refactoring and greenfield development of several business applications. The technical ecosystem that supports these applications includes traditional backend technologies; the role focuses on functional design, documentation and traceability rather than hands-on coding.
You will analyse and translate complex business flows into clear functional specifications and user stories, using BPMN and UML where needed, and produce the artefacts developers and testers use. Expect to work in cross-functional Agile teams, run stakeholder workshops, validate APIs and data mappings with technical colleagues, and follow features from initial analysis through to test and acceptance.
Your responsibilities
- Produce clear functional analysis and software requirements documents that enable development and testing to deliver on time and to scope
- Translate stakeholder needs into prioritized user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining traceability from requirements to tests
- Design and validate business process models using BPMN and UML, and align those models with data models and API/mapping definitions
- Coordinate with developers and architects to convert functional designs into technical specifications and to review implementation
- Define test strategy and support test analysis & design, including writing test plans and test cases and validating results during sprints
- Maintain Confluence documentation, update stakeholder status and help escalate or resolve scope and risk issues with project managers
Your profile
Essential skills
- Practical experience in an Agile / Scrum delivery environment, able to participate in ceremonies and backlog refinement
- Strong competency in business process modelling with BPMN and in producing UML diagrams for functional designs
- Solid ability to write concise user stories and acceptance criteria that developers and testers can act on
- Experience with SQL for data validation and to support data model work
- Experience in test analysis & design, including writing test plans and cases
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, able to run workshops and build long-term relationships
- Comfortable reading technical documentation and discussing APIs, mappings and services with developers
Languages
- French or Dutch, C1 (active spoken and written technical communication)
- English, B2 (able to write technical documentation)
