A major Flemish home-care organisation runs a central Architecture Council to keep application, integration and infrastructure decisions aligned with security and reuse goals. This part-time ICT Architect role provides strategic architecture advice, technical roadmapping and security oversight, focusing on API-first integrations, cloud/hybrid infrastructure and identity and access patterns.
The mission
The organisation operates multiple care and support services where IT spans CRM, planning, document management and reporting systems used across regional teams. The Architecture Council coordinates architecture decisions, reference architectures and an approved technology catalogue to avoid point solutions and reduce vendor lock-in. Your work will influence platforms that support several thousand users and ongoing multi-project delivery.
You will act as the Architecture Council’s senior technical advisor, reviewing project proposals, producing written recommendations and defining architectural constraints for implementations. Typical engagement is flexible, around 1 to 2 days per month, covering the monthly council meeting, ad hoc design reviews, and coaching sessions with solution owners to ensure security-by-design, maintainability and operational readiness.
Your responsibilities
- Advise the Architecture Council by producing clear written assessments, trade-offs and decision notes that drive sustainable choices across projects
- Validate solution and integration designs for CRM, integration platform and data flows, ensuring API-first and event-driven patterns where appropriate
- Enforce security and compliance by mapping risks and mitigations, specifying requirements for encryption, least privilege and auditability
- Define infrastructure principles for cloud/hybrid hosting, resilience, backup/restore and operational monitoring to reduce TCO and increase availability
- Coach project teams on reusable integration patterns, canonical data approaches and Architecture Decision Records to improve consistency
- Maintain reference architectures, a technology catalogue and minimal documentation standards to speed future delivery and audits

- Ability to produce concise, actionable written advice and to coach technical teams and stakeholders
Education
- Degree or equivalent experience in ICT, computer science or related technical discipline
