The team supports infrastructure and platform services for a major Belgian financial institution, delivering stable production and non-production environments for a consumer-facing product line. This role sits in an Agile iOps team and focuses on systems engineering, automation and a cloud migration programme, with day-to-day work on Linux and Windows Server platforms, Ansible automation and IBM Cloud operations.
The mission
You will join an iOps team of around 8-12 engineers embedded in a tribe responsible for consumer services. The technical landscape includes mixed Linux and Windows estates, containerised services, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring for production websites and backend APIs. The work matters because these environments host customer-facing services used by tens of thousands of users and the team is actively migrating workloads to IBM Cloud.
On a daily basis you will own infrastructure tasks across environments, automate repetitive work using Ansible, Python and Bash, and participate in releases and run activities. You will collaborate with developers, release managers and platform engineers to validate deployments, improve observability and keep production stable while enabling faster delivery from the tribe.
Your responsibilities
- Automate provisioning and configuration of servers and platform components to reduce manual changes and deployment errors
- Maintain and improve production and non-production environments, ensuring availability and observability of customer-facing websites and APIs
- Implement and operate automation scripts and playbooks in Ansible, Python, Bash and PowerShell to support release pipelines
- Support the migration of on-prem systems to IBM Cloud, contributing to planning, testing and cutover activities
- Collaborate in Agile rituals, code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions to raise overall team delivery quality
- Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures
