A senior IT functional analyst will join a large banking IT organisation to translate business needs into detailed application designs, working within the enterprise architecture and integration landscape. The role focuses on API design and documentation, Swagger usage, and UML diagrams to specify how multiple application components integrate and exchange data.
The mission
The team delivers functional solutions for complex banking applications that integrate through APIs and shared middleware. You will work with architects, product owners and multiple asset teams to ensure that functional specifications align with the enterprise standards for architecture, security and data. Work is organised in an enterprise environment with defined analysis methodology and regular integration and assembly testing cycles.
Day to day you will clarify business problems, evaluate alternative technical options and produce detailed functional designs that specify data flows, interfaces and application responsibilities. You will coordinate the different asset teams during elaboration and construction, follow development and test results, analyse defects, and support release and production incident resolution when required. In agile projects preparation, elaboration and construction activities are performed across sprints and you will be expected to apply an agile mindset and collaborate across disciplines.
Your responsibilities
- Design clear, detailed functional specifications that define data models, API contracts and the application components responsible for implementation, ensuring conformity with enterprise architecture.
- Translate business requirements into UML diagrams, Swagger/OpenAPI definitions and functional acceptance criteria to guide development and testing.
- Coordinate and align multiple asset teams and external suppliers so each team understands its functional responsibilities and delivery obligations.
- Validate delivered components during integration and assembly testing, identify defects, and drive resolution with development and testing teams.
- Support release and deployment activities, and provide first-line analysis for production incidents with updated documentation.
- Advise stakeholders on cost/benefit of solution alternatives and propose options compliant with security and architecture standards.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a functional or IT analyst in enterprise environments, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Strong functional and technical knowledge of existing IT systems, able to map business processes to application components.
- Proven ability to produce UML diagrams and to specify APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Familiarity with analysis methodology according to enterprise standards and with integration layers and queues.
- Analytical, methodical and communicative, able to coordinate across teams and suppliers.
Preferred skills
- Practical experience with Java and with XSD/XSLT.
- Experience using AI tools to support analysis and modelling.
- Practical experience working in Scrum teams.
