A national lottery operator with a high-traffic retail and digital ecosystem is formalising its Atlassian Jira platform. The role exists to validate and formalise a target Jira architecture, ensuring the platform is scalable and governed, and to deliver a clear Jira architecture blueprint that the organisation can operate and evolve.
The mission
The platform supports heavy peaks of activity and a mobile-first customer base, so the architecture must handle high concurrency, predictable permission models and automated operations. You will assess the proposed Jira design against real-world needs, check integrations with apps and automations, and ensure the solution is maintainable and future-proof.
On a day-to-day basis you will work with tooling, platform and business teams to review existing configurations, run workshops to capture organisational requirements, and produce a documented target design. Your outputs will be the validated architecture, the blueprint and governance documents, and practical recommendations for rollout and migration.
Your responsibilities
- Validate the proposed Jira architecture and produce a documented, actionable blueprint that supports scalability and maintainability
- Translate business and organisational requirements into a target Jira design, including projects, schemes, workflows, permissions and custom fields
- Define governance principles and operational standards to ensure consistent use of Jira across teams
- Recommend specific Marketplace apps and automation patterns, and evaluate their operational and upgrade impact
- Deliver a migration and rollout plan with clear checkpoints, acceptance criteria and documentation for administrators
- Advise and upskill platform owners and administrators through workshops and concise technical guidance
Your profile
Essential skills
- Proven experience as a Jira Architect or Atlassian tooling architect, with senior-level delivery experience
- Deep technical knowledge of Jira concepts: projects, schemes, workflows, permissions, custom fields, automations and apps
- Experience producing architecture blueprints, governance models and operational runbooks
- Ability to evaluate Marketplace apps and automation rules for scalability and maintenance impact
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, able to run workshops and translate business needs into architecture
- Experience with high-availability or high-concurrency platforms and designing for scale
Deliverables expected: analysis of the existing/proposed architecture, improvement recommendations, a Jira architecture blueprint and documented governance and standards.
