A national central bank maintains monetary stability and oversees prudential controls across a range of financial services. This junior Operational Risk Management Specialist role sits in the Financial and Operational Risk Management Department, Operational Risk Prevention and Cybersecurity Section, and focuses on operational risk identification, assessment and monitoring, with regular use of the banks GRC tool and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
The mission
The team supports operational risk across all business lines, covering incident reporting, risk mapping and second-line controls that feed into periodic risk reporting to senior management and regulators. Work is anchored in a formal risk management framework and contributes to continuity and control for critical bank processes.
Day to day you will support the assessment and monitoring of operational risks, accompany first-line colleagues when they document controls and risks, and help keep the GRC tool up to date. You will analyse KRIs, prepare inputs for risk mapping updates and participate in project risk reviews to ensure mitigation actions are tracked and implemented within agreed timelines.
Your responsibilities
- Assess risk submissions and help maintain accurate risk records in the GRC tool, ensuring documentation matches the risk management framework
- Guide first-line users on documenting controls and risk assessments, increasing the quality of risk inputs across business units
- Analyse Key Risk Indicators to detect trends and escalate deviations that require preventive or corrective action
- Support second-line control activities, including testing control effectiveness and proposing pragmatic remediation steps
- Prepare clear risk reporting inputs for periodic management reports and for updates to the institutions risk map
- Assist project teams to identify operational risks and define measurable mitigation actions and timelines
Your profile
Essential skills
- First experience in risk management, internal control, or audit in a financial environment, such as an internship or junior role, demonstrating practical exposure to operational risk
- Practical familiarity or strong interest in GRC tools and risk documentation practices
- Ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative risk information and to produce concise written reports
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with first-line colleagues and stakeholders across functions
- Capacity to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing to a small team
- Fluency in French, C1; English, C1
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of KRIs and risk reporting practices
- Experience with second-line controls or internal audit work
