A major Belgian financial institution operates a transversal compliance team that handles client onboarding, ongoing due diligence and AML alerts; this temporary role fills a summer replacement for a KYC/AML analyst and will use MS Office and common compliance tools daily. The post sits inside the operations function and focuses on KYC/AML case work, PEP and sanctions screening, and documentation for regulatory reporting, with regular contact with business, boarding teams and bank colleagues.
The mission
You will join a compliance operations team responsible for onboarding and recertification of higher-risk clients and for first- and second-line analysis of AML alerts and sanctions hits. The team manages case files that feed into regulatory reporting and acceptance decisions, applies the Acceptance Policy, and escalates suspicious activity to the AML compliance officer (AMLCO).
On a day-to-day basis you will review KYC files and documentary evidence, perform in-depth AML investigations, handle PEP and sanctions screening escalations, and prepare clear, auditable records for Senior Management or an Acceptance Committee when a business relationship requires validation. You will also contribute to improving and documenting operational processes and participate in the ongoing risk and control assessment cycle.
Your responsibilities
- Validate KYC and recertification files for clients with aggravated risk, ensuring completeness of documentary evidence and correct application of the Acceptance Policy
- Analyse AML alerts and screening hits at second-line level, produce investigation reports and recommend remediation such as recertification, closure, or offboarding
- Escalate confirmed or potential suspicious activity promptly by submitting an UAR to the AMLCO and support regulatory reporting requests
- Liaise with business, boarding teams and colleagues in the bank to collect supplementary information and reconcile transactional activity with client profiles
- Improve and document operational processes, contribute findings to the risk and control assessment, and maintain accurate case records
- Provide first-line guidance to business teams on handling alerts, PEP and sanctions screening results and required next steps
