The team operates within the Belgian banking environment to maintain day-to-day processing for retail banking. This senior Operations Officer role exists to provide operational support and control over front-end and back-end processes for daily banking activities, using MS Office and a range of IT tools to monitor, report and resolve issues.
The mission
The role sits in a transversal operations team responsible for operational continuity and control across daily banking processes, including customer-facing transaction flows and back-office settlement tasks. The scope includes monitoring process controls, recording exceptions, contributing to operational risk reporting and ensuring controls are executed consistently across channels.
On a typical day you will run and review operational controls, escalate and track remediation of incidents, and produce management reporting that feeds decision making for business partners. You will also provide ad hoc project support for process improvements, act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, and help guarantee customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution.
Your responsibilities
- Own operational controls and monitoring for daily banking processes, ensuring controls are completed and exceptions are addressed promptly
- Deliver clear, timely operational and risk reports that enable business partners to make informed decisions
- Escalate and manage incidents, coordinating action plans with business teams to restore service and prevent recurrence
- Support process improvement initiatives and small projects by testing process changes and documenting impacts on front-end and back-end flows
- Serve as a visible point of contact for internal stakeholders and third-party partners, maintaining high standards of customer service and communication
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to evidence packages for internal reviews and audits
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 2 years relevant operational experience in a banking or financial environment
- Proven technical experience, comfortable working with MS Office (advanced Excel, pivot tables, basic macros) and various IT tools used for transaction monitoring and reporting
- Practical knowledge of front-end and back-end processes for daily banking activities, including exception handling and settlement steps
- Strong communicator, able to present control findings and negotiate action plans with business partners
- Problem-solver with attention to accuracy, quality-minded and able to work independently under pressure
