A major Belgian public sector IT organisation maintains several shared digital platforms used by multiple business units, and this role exists to steer the evolution of one of those platforms. You will work in an Agile environment using Jira and Confluence to translate business needs into a maintained backlog and a clear product roadmap for the platform.
The mission
The platform covers a set of core services used by internal users and partner applications, where consistency and quality across releases matter for day-to-day operations. The technical landscape includes web APIs, transactional front-ends and third-party integrations; the work focuses on delivering incremental product improvements, managing the platform backlog and ensuring releases meet functional and non-functional requirements.
On a day-to-day basis you will gather and analyse internal and external user needs, convert them into well-scoped features in Jira and keep Confluence documentation up to date. You will own the platform roadmap, prioritise the backlog with stakeholders, monitor outcomes after release and steer small projects budget and priorities within your domain.
Your responsibilities
- Own and prioritise the platform backlog in Jira, ensuring features are sized, described and aligned with the roadmap
- Translate business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that development teams can implement
- Coordinate implementation across developers, QA and business stakeholders to deliver consistent, high-quality releases
- Monitor product metrics and user feedback, and adjust priorities and scope based on analysis and measurable outcomes
- Produce and maintain product documentation and release notes in Confluence and provide training materials for end users
- Manage the small projects budget for your domain and make trade-off decisions that maximise product value
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Platform or Product Owner working in an Agile context
- Practical experience using Jira for backlog management and Confluence for product documentation
- Ability to translate business and functional analysis into clear IT features and acceptance criteria
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to coordinate cross-functional teams
- Data-informed decision making, comfortable using metrics to prioritise and validate features
