A major Belgian financial institution runs a multi-project initiative to modernise HR-related IT and operational processes, and this role exists to coordinate that programme end-to-end. The position combines program management, program risk management and hands-on stakeholder coordination across HR, IT and compliance teams, with expected delivery across 6 to 8 concurrent projects using common PM tools such as JIRA, Confluence and MS Project.
The mission
The programme sits inside the bank's transformation portfolio and focuses on stabilising HR systems, improving permanent control processes and delivering new HR services to internal users. The technical landscape includes several legacy HR applications and two planned replacements, integrations with payroll and identity services, and compliance reporting for operational risk. The programme covers roughly 6 to 8 projects, affects ~10,000 internal users and runs to staged releases over the next 18 months.
Day to day you will ensure coherence across project plans, consolidate progress reporting and drive decisions in the programme steering committee. You will work with a sponsor and a senior manager, support 3 to 6 project managers, track inter-project dependencies, and act as the escalation point for cross-project issues that affect timeline, scope or budget.
Your responsibilities
- Lead consolidation of project plans and deliver a single, actionable programme plan that shows dependencies, milestones and delivery risks
- Drive programme-level risk and issue management, ensuring risks are quantified, mitigations assigned and tracked to closure
- Coordinate cross-project change control and make escalation decisions to protect timelines and budget
- Produce clear reporting and presentations for the steering committee and senior stakeholders, translating technical details into business impact
- Support cost estimation and budget follow-up, and advise on trade-offs between scope, time and quality
- Coach and support project managers on PM tooling, dependency mapping and resolution of cross-cutting issues
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience delivering complex projects or a programme of projects in a multi-project environment
- Proven capability in program management and project management methodologies and tools, including JIRA, Confluence or MS Project
- Demonstrable experience in program risk management and escalation governance
- Practical experience with HR processes and HR IT systems, including integrations with payroll or identity systems
- Strong stakeholder management, decision-making and structured, goal-oriented delivery approach
Preferred skills
- Project or programme management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or SAFe
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector
