A major Belgian financial institution runs a set of strategic IT programmes delivered by Tribes and cross-functional squads, and this role exists to coordinate those deliveries. The position combines Agile delivery management with stakeholder governance, using Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, and tooling such as Jira and Confluence to track progress and risks.
The mission
The Programme sits inside an IT Tribe organised in Agile Scrum mode, delivering capability changes to banking systems and supporting infrastructure. Work includes coordinating releases, ensuring security and compliance of deliverables, and preparing governance reporting for steering committees and IT leadership. The environment requires close alignment with IT governance and infrastructure teams and operates with frequent sprint cadences and cross-squad release trains.
As a Senior IT Project Manager you will own delivery outcomes across several squads, reporting to the IT Tribe Lead. On a typical day you will remove impediments, consolidate sprint and release status, produce dashboards and KPIs in Confluence/Jira, and present progress at governance meetings. You will also ensure that deliveries meet security and internal policy requirements and that teams keep to agreed quality, schedule and budget targets.
Your responsibilities
- Drive on-time, on-budget delivery of programme increments, aligning squad-level commitments with Tribe objectives and IT governance.
- Produce and maintain delivery dashboards and KPIs in Jira and Confluence to provide transparent, timely reporting for steering committees.
- Remove cross-team impediments and coordinate dependencies between squads, infrastructure and operations to reduce delivery risk.
- Enforce security and compliance requirements for releases, ensuring deliverables meet internal policies and regulatory expectations.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and cadence planning across squads, adapting SAFe/Scrum/Kanban practices to improve predictability.
- Communicate status, risks and mitigation plans clearly to the IT Tribe Lead and other stakeholders, including preparing materials for governance forums.
