Delivery cadence across a key digital banking squad is inconsistent, sprints often stall because backlog hygiene in Jira and continuous integration practices are not enforced. You, the Scrum Master, will apply Agile methodology and hands-on Jira governance to restore rhythm and champion automated unit and functional testing so each sprint delivers measurable, shippable value.
The Mission
You will join a cross-functional squad of 6-8 engineers, QA specialists and a product owner working on core retail banking services for a major Belgian financial institution. The technical landscape relies on Jira for backlog management, CI pipelines and test automation for unit and functional tests, supported by established software development and project management methodologies. This work matters because delivery predictability and quality reductions directly lower operational incidents and regulatory risk.
As the squads Scrum Master you will own the teams delivery cadence and coaching path. You will set up and run Scrum ceremonies, protect the team from external noise, ensure the Definition of Done is respected, keep the backlog consistent in Jira and turn retrospectives into concrete improvement actions that increase throughput and quality.
Your Responsibilities
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies and ensure each event produces clear, measurable outcomes that advance the sprint goal.
- Coach the product owner and stakeholders on effective backlog refinement, prioritisation and collaboration to improve predictability.
- Remove impediments and shield the squad from external distractions, escalating risks when necessary to protect velocity and quality.
- Maintain backlog consistency and Agile reporting in Jira, aligning sprint backlog with release planning and the Definition of Done.
- Promote adoption of automated unit testing tooling, automated functional testing tooling and continuous integration tooling so increments are production-ready.
- Track capacity, velocity and quality metrics and convert retrospective insights into prioritised improvement actions.
