The organisation is a large, regulated IT function supporting multiple business lines, delivering digital services through agile teams. This junior Scrum Master role exists to embed Scrum practices, coach a cross-functional project team and ensure predictable delivery using Agile techniques and tools such as Jira and sprint metrics. The role focuses on team facilitation, backlog support and removing impediments so the team can meet sprint goals.
The mission
You will join a cross-functional project team composed of analysts, developers and testers responsible for delivering software features against a product roadmap. The team follows Scrum and other agile techniques, uses Jira for backlog and reporting, and tracks capacity and velocity to plan two-week sprints. This work matters because it improves release predictability and shortens feedback loops between IT and the business.
Day to day you will run and improve the Scrum ceremonies, keep the sprint backlog and Definition of Done aligned with the product owner, and report progress to project stakeholders. You will coach the team towards self-organisation, remove blockers that affect throughput, and maintain sprint planning inputs such as capacity and velocity metrics to support release planning. The role reports into IT project leadership and works closely with a Product Owner and delivery team.
