An IT Production Data team in a large financial organisation is driving an agile transformation of bank-wide data services. This Senior Scrum Master will implement and coach Scrum and Kanban practices, use Jira and Confluence daily, and coordinate teams that operate databases, ETL pipelines and production monitoring to increase resilience and delivery predictability.
The mission
The role sits inside an IT Production Data organisation that manages data pipelines, operational monitoring and incident response for key banking systems. The programme aims to raise data quality and resilience, align data services with group priorities, and reduce production incidents through stronger processes and metrics. Work touches cross-team integrations, regulatory reporting feeds and continuous deployment of data-oriented services.
On a day-to-day basis you will support a cross-functional delivery team (analysis, development, testing, operations) of roughly 6 to 10 people, run Scrum ceremonies, and remove impediments so the team delivers planned increments reliably. You will work closely with Product Owners, platform engineers and IT production stakeholders to prioritise backlog items, coordinate release windows, and represent the team in technical and business workshops. As a senior scrum master data services coach, you will also help define CI/CD and observability improvements and translate production-level incidents into sustained process changes.
Your responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum and Kanban ceremonies and refine team practices to increase sprint predictability and customer-focused outcomes.
- Remove impediments and negotiate cross-team dependencies to reduce mean time to recovery and release cycle time.
- Coach team members and Product Owners to improve backlog hygiene, acceptance criteria and risk-based prioritisation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives around CI/CD, monitoring and runbook quality to raise production resilience.
- Coordinate stakeholder communication during incidents and post-incident reviews to convert learnings into policy and process changes.
- Represent the team in workshops and roadmapping sessions to highlight data service value and identify cross-team synergies.
