A large Belgian public sector organisation is replacing a wide portfolio of SAS-based products before the technology reaches end-of-support in 2028. This role exists to support the SAS migration by delivering clear business and functional analysis, using BPMN, data modeling and pragmatic backlog practices in GitLab to convert AS-IS processes into implementable TO-BE solutions.
The mission
The migration programme covers many analytical and reporting applications currently built in SAS, each of which must be replaced either by an internally developed application or a purchased solution. The programme is a strategic priority for senior management and requires rigorous business process modelling, gap analysis and functional specifications to keep replacements aligned with business rules and data constraints.
Day to day you will run end-to-end functional analysis for several SAS products, facilitating bilingual workshops to capture requirements, producing AS-IS and TO-BE models in BPMN and UML, and creating detailed data models. You will translate findings into user stories and acceptance criteria, maintain the product backlog in GitLab with the product owner and developers, and define test scenarios to validate delivered functionality before handover to business teams.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and own AS-IS and TO-BE analysis, producing BPMN process maps and UML diagrams that expose functional gaps and data implications
- Translate business needs into a prioritized product backlog and detailed user stories, managing backlog items in GitLab with clear acceptance criteria
- Facilitate bilingual workshops with stakeholders to validate requirements and propose pragmatic functional improvements
- Design and document data models that preserve reporting requirements while supporting migration off SAS
- Produce wireframes and mockups to align stakeholders and accelerate developer implementation
- Define, execute and document test scenarios and acceptance tests to ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements
