The organisation is a large Belgian public-sector water utility running a mature SAP landscape. This Senior SAP BC role exists to ensure the technical availability, performance and security of SAP ECC and the gradual S/4 HANA footprint, with hands-on administration of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 and Oracle on Windows.
The mission
You will join the infrastructure team responsible for the SAP technical backbone that supports billing, asset management and operational reporting. The current landscape centres on SAP ECC with staged S/4 HANA and IS-U projects, monitored through SAP Solution Manager 7.2 and underpinned by Oracle databases on Windows servers. Maintaining operational continuity and meeting SLAs for system availability and performance is the team's priority.
Day-to-day you will own Maintenance in Operational Conditions, system administration tasks and upgrades for SAP ECC and S/4 HANA, manage the transport landscape between development, test and production, and act as the escalation point for complex technical incidents. You will work directly with functional teams, ABAP developers and database administrators to plan and execute installations, upgrades and migration activities, and keep technical documentation and runbooks current for the operations team.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure high availability and stable performance of SAP systems by applying proactive monitoring, tuning and corrective actions.
- Administer and maintain SAP ECC and S/4 HANA systems, including patching, kernel updates and configuration in a Windows/Oracle environment.
- Lead installations and upgrades for SAP components and Oracle databases on Windows, delivering tested and documented change packages.
- Manage the transport landscape and release cycles to ensure error-free promotion of changes across development, quality and production systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical incidents, provide second- and third-line support and coordinate restoration of service.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks and security profiles to support audits and operational handover.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Several years of hands-on experience as a SAP Basis / BC specialist, ideally at senior level.
- Proven administration and maintenance of SAP ECC in a Windows / Oracle environment.
- Practical experience with SAP S/4 HANA administration and IS-U module support.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Solution Manager 7.2, including system monitoring and change control.
- Experience installing and upgrading Oracle databases on Windows, and performing SAP installations in Windows/Oracle environments.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for complex incidents, performance tuning and backup/recovery procedures.
- Good collaboration skills to work with functional consultants, ABAP developers and infrastructure teams.
