A specialised unit within national law enforcement maintains secure interception and technical support infrastructure for investigative and tactical operations. This role exists to drive the reliability and modernisation of server and virtualised environments, with an emphasis on Active Directory administration and automation using PowerShell.
The mission
The team operates and evolves a mix of Windows and Linux server platforms that support real-time interception tooling and mission-critical services. The technical landscape includes virtualised environments (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V), storage arrays, identity services and traditional on-prem infrastructure, where system availability and security are essential.
You will lead platform engineering for these systems, working in a bilingual, interdisciplinary team of engineers and operators. Day to day you will administer Active Directory, GPO, DNS and DHCP, implement patching and backup regimes, tune virtual machines and storage, and automate repeatable tasks. Your work links directly to operational deployments and long term infrastructure roadmaps.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of stable, secure server architectures that meet operational availability targets.
- Administer and optimise Windows and Linux systems, including Active Directory, GPO, DNS and DHCP, to reduce incidents and mean time to recovery.
- Automate operational tasks and repeatable processes using scripting, improving deployment speed and consistency.
- Monitor and optimise virtualised environments VMware Proxmox Hyper-V to control resource utilisation and performance.
- Implement and validate backup, patching and business continuity processes to preserve service integrity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex software and infrastructure incidents, and document resolutions for knowledge sharing.
