A major Belgian financial institution's securities operations team handles corporate actions for client-held securities, including notifications, instruction collection, posting and reconciliation. This Specialist Domain Corporate Actions role exists to support the team in applying the new Capital Gain Taxation rules, using Excel and basic VBA runners to feed acquisition-price data and ensure correct taxation of transactions in Brussels.
The mission
The team processes corporate actions workflows that affect retail and private client portfolios, ensuring notifications and client instructions are captured, posting is accurate, and reconciliations balance. The function contributes to operational risk reduction for taxation processes and maintains an acquisition-price database used to calculate taxable gains. Accurate, timely handling matters because the data feeds downstream reporting and client tax outcomes.
Day to day you will work inside the corporate actions queue: taking requests related to CGT, sourcing and entering acquisition prices into the database, running and verifying VB/VBA runners, and preparing reconciliations and exception reports. You will work closely with other operations officers and escalate anomalies, keeping tight adherence to deadlines and documented procedures. This role is a junior position and suitable for candidates with at least one year of relevant operations experience.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure correct application of Capital Gain Taxation on client transactions by validating acquisition prices and tax flags, reducing tax-related operational risk
- Maintain and update the acquisition-price database, delivering accurate input data for tax calculations and reconciliations
- Execute and validate VBA/VB runners and Excel-based processes, ensuring outputs match expected results before handover
- Reconcile corporate actions postings on client accounts and investigate discrepancies until resolved
