The organisation is a major Belgian bank running a digital channels tribe responsible for employee and retail customer journeys. The role exists to coordinate end-to-end release management and release orchestration across roughly 30 squads, ensuring predictable deliveries and operational quality, with hands-on use of release management practices and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Maven.
The mission
The team delivers the bank's web and mobile channels and supporting services in a fully Agile environment, working across squads, clusters, and adjacent tribes. The technical landscape includes multi-environment pipelines, containerised services, configuration management, and dependency-heavy releases that must align with business timelines and regulatory constraints.
Day to day you will own the tribe-level release strategy and consolidated release plans, coordinate deployments across non-production and production environments, and assess risks and contingency plans. You will work directly with DevOps engineers, test engineers, product owners, architects, and other tribe release engineers to keep releases predictable and protect production integrity.
Your responsibilities
- Define and maintain the tribe release strategy and consolidated release calendar, delivering transparency and alignment with business milestones.
- Orchestrate releases end-to-end, ensuring deployments across non-prod and prod environments run with minimal risk and no unexpected downtime.
- Coordinate dependency management and release scopes across ~30 squads to reduce collisions and improve delivery predictability.
- Implement and improve release orchestration, runbooks, and rollback strategies to preserve operational quality.
- Coach squads on CI/CD pipeline best practices and release workflows to raise release maturity and squad autonomy.
- Communicate release status, risks, and contingency plans clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
