The organisation runs a DevEx tribe that improves developer productivity and software quality across multiple agile squads. This role exists to define and industrialise a test strategy, select and integrate tools such as Selenium and Cypress, and embed automated API testing with Java-based frameworks like RestAssured and Karate into CI/CD pipelines.
The mission
You will join the DevEx tribe focused on shortening feedback loops and raising release quality across the platform. The tribe works with several agile squads and a central Testing Guild to standardise testing practices for UI, API and end-to-end flows, and to integrate automated tests into GitLab-CI and Jenkins pipelines.
Day to day you will own testing initiatives across squads: design the scalable testing strategy, run tool proof-of-concepts, implement test automation patterns in Java and JavaScript, and ensure tests execute automatically on merge requests. You will translate technical results into concise reports for product owners, mentor engineers in BDD and shift-left testing, and help teams adopt API tools such as Postman, Bruno, RestAssured and Karate.
Your responsibilities
- Define and deliver a tribe-level testing strategy that reduces escape defects and shortens feedback cycles.
- Lead evaluation and implementation of testing tools, running PoCs for frameworks like Playwright, Cypress and RestAssured.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab-CI and Jenkins to ensure tests run on merge requests and releases.
- Mentor squads in BDD/TDD practices with Cucumber and Octane, and coach teams on shift-left testing and test design.
- Produce stakeholder-facing quality reports that translate test results into business risk and release readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement by introducing non-functional testing practices and exploring AI technologies to improve test coverage and maintenance.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in test engineering and automation.
- Proven ability to build and maintain automated UI and API test suites using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, RestAssured or Karate.
- Strong Java skills applied in a testing context and experience with test frameworks and libraries.
- Practical experience with BDD tools such as Cucumber and test management with Octane.
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman and Bruno.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD using GitLab-CI and Jenkins, and version control with Git.
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and owning testing as part of sprint delivery.
Preferred skills
- Experience with containerisation using Docker.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code concepts, for example Terraform.
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript for front-end and Playwright test code.
- Practical interest or experience applying AI techniques to test generation, flakiness detection or observability.
Languages
- English, B2 or higher.
- French or Dutch, B1 or higher is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
