A semi-public organisation in the Belgian nuclear waste and decommissioning sector needs day-to-day administration and analysis of production and waste data to maintain compliant inventories and regulatory reporting. This role sits inside a small production management team and combines data analysis, data management and process optimisation to keep databases and transport documentation accurate and auditable.
The mission
The team supports production and waste accounting for several operational facilities, maintaining databases that track physical, chemical and radiological characterisation. You will work with systems that store production records, transport manifests and conformity dossiers, producing monthly and annual reports required by nuclear control authorities and tax filings on radioactive waste movements.
On a daily basis you will collect, validate and update production and waste records, extract datasets for internal stakeholders and regulators, and propose improvements to database functionality and workflows. You will also coordinate administrative aspects of nuclear transports and inspections, prepare conformity documentation for production batches and support internal labs and treatment campaigns with timely data outputs.
Your responsibilities
- Maintain and improve accuracy of production and waste inventories by validating, coding and entering records into production databases, ensuring traceability and auditability.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators, translating raw data into clear, regulator-ready summaries.
- Extract and transform data from existing databases using queries or scripts to support technical teams and management decisions.
- Coordinate administrative planning for nuclear transports and inspections, ensuring required permits and documentation are in place.
- Propose and implement process improvements to data flows and database functionality, working with IT or vendor teams to deliver changes.
- Prepare conformity dossiers and assist with statutory filings related to the storage and transfer of nuclear material.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Demonstrable experience in data analysis and data management, with comfort querying databases and working in Excel (3+ years preferred).
- Ability to produce accurate, regulator-ready reports and reconciliations from production data.
- Experience with process optimisation, identifying bottlenecks and documenting improved workflows.
- Practical scripting or automation skills (for example SQL queries, Python or VBA) to extract and reshape data.
- Strong attention to detail and procedural discipline when applying regulatory rules and acceptance criteria.
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of nuclear regulation and reporting requirements, or experience supporting inspections by control authorities.
- Experience in project coordination or following up complex administrative processes across multiple stakeholders.
Note: this role is operationally focused and requires someone who can combine hands-on data work with clear, regulated reporting.
