A major Belgian financial institution is evolving its integration platform that connects cloud-native services on Azure with legacy applications on a private cloud. The role focuses on platform architecture for hybrid integration, with hands-on work in Azure (AKS, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, Workbooks / Kusto Query Language), WSO2-based integration, and Java-based services using Quarkus and Spring.
The mission
The project is a multi-year programme to modernise the organisation's integration layer and data reference services, including Enterprise Data Management and electronic payments flows. The platform handles system-to-system messaging, API mediation and batch interfaces for payments and reconciliations, and must support secure SOAP and REST exchanges across Azure and private cloud hosts. Expected outputs include High Level Designs, technical architecture artefacts and operational runbooks.
Day-to-day you will define technical architectures for new integrations and evolve existing solutions on the platform. You will produce design documents, implement core components where required and lead the handover and coaching of developers delivering integrations. Typical work covers containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize), API management with WSO2, and payment integrations such as Worldline SIPS, Xengo and Terminal CTEP plus CODA file processing.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of integration architectures, delivering High Level Design and detailed technical designs that align with Enterprise Data Management
- Drive containerisation and deployment standards for AKS, including Helm and Kustomize charts and operational observability using Azure Workbooks and Kusto Query Language
- Architect and implement secure API and messaging patterns using WSO2 Enterprise Integrator and API Manager, Azure Service Bus and Event Grid
- Produce clear technical documentation and runbooks, and manage handovers to operations and development teams
- Coach and guide developers on Java 11/17/21, Quarkus, Spring 6.x, Spring Boot and integration best practices
- Ensure payment integrations and file interfaces meet security, audit and reconciliation requirements
Your profile
Essential skills
- Proven experience as a solution or technical architect on hybrid integration platforms, including Azure and private cloud environments
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Storage, Workbooks and Kusto Query Language
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Kustomize for production deployments
- Deep experience with WSO2 Enterprise Integrator (6.4+) and WSO2 API Manager (2.6+)
- Strong Java background with Java 11/17/21, J2EE mindset, Quarkus, Spring 6.x, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JPA/Hibernate, REST and SOAP with WS-Security
- Experience implementing enterprise data management/referential systems and subscription mechanisms to authoritative sources
- Experience integrating electronic payments (Worldline SIPS, Xengo, Terminal CTEP) and processing CODA files
