A public-sector IT operator supporting francophone public administrations runs a multi-year programme to modernise how citizen and case data are stored and used. The IT Data steward CRM role sits on the data team responsible for the CRM roll-out, working with MS Dynamics 365 and data virtualisation (Denodo) to build secure, compliant data flows and test datasets for production use.
The mission
The team manages the data layer for two connected programmes that introduce a CRM and related case-management services. The technical landscape includes Dataverse, DB2 (LUW and mainframe), Azure-hosted services, Denodo for virtualisation and ETL pipelines based on SAP Data Services and other ETL tooling. The work matters because correct data modelling, anonymisation and governance reduce redundancy, accelerate business processes and ensure GDPR compliance for thousands of user records.
On a typical day you will analyse data models, implement transformation logic and operate pipelines that move and virtualise data between on-prem and cloud components. You will collaborate with a squad of data engineers, CRM functional analysts and security specialists (team size typically 6–10), contribute to migration runs, produce test datasets, and support production troubleshooting during and after go-live phases.
Your responsibilities
- Design and deploy data flows and transformation logic between source systems, Dataverse/DB2 and Denodo to deliver stable CRM datasets
- Implement data quality controls, classification and anonymisation so business teams receive GDPR-compliant test and production data
- Define and apply data governance artefacts, including master data management rules, data catalogue entries and lineage for CRM entities
- Secure data in transit and at rest by applying access controls, encryption policies and cloud architecture guidance aligned with security teams
- Automate migration and reconciliation tasks to reduce manual fixes during cutover and keep data duplication below agreed SLAs
- Diagnose data incidents in test and production, propose fixes and coordinate actions with CRM functional teams and platform engineers
Your profile
Essential skills
- Proven experience working as a data steward or data engineer in CRM contexts, with hands-on use of MS Dynamics 365 and Dataverse
- Practical experience with data virtualisation (Denodo) and ETL tools such as SAP Data Services, Talend, NiFi, ADF or SSIS
- Strong SQL skills and experience writing transformation scripts in SQL, VQL or Python for dataset creation and masking
- Competence in database modelling, query optimisation, indexing and monitoring for DB2 or equivalent RDBMS
- Knowledge of data governance practices: MDM, data catalogue, lineage, data quality frameworks and test-data creation
- Understanding of cloud architecture on Microsoft Azure and of GDPR/compliance requirements for sensitive data
