The IT department of a major Belgian public sector organisation manages a central ServiceNow platform that supports multiple internal departments, ITSM processes and a corporate CMDB. This Senior ServiceNow Expert role exists to design, develop and optimise ServiceNow ITSM and integrations, using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST and SOAP, and to align the platform with ITIL v3/v4 practices.
The mission
The current programme covers configuration and continuous improvement of ServiceNow modules including ITSM, CMDB and HRSD, plus rollout of a new Service Portal and Flow Designer-based automations. The platform integrates with LDAP and single sign-on providers and handles ticketing and asset records used across several government services, so stability, governance and auditability are priorities.
Day to day you will work in a small central team that implements platform changes, delivers integrations and supports internal users and process owners. You will translate stakeholder requirements into technical designs, build workflows and scripts with the Glide API and JavaScript, implement REST/SOAP and LDAP integrations, and contribute to ITIL-aligned governance and documentation.
Your responsibilities
- Design ServiceNow solutions that reduce manual work and improve incident and change lifecycle outcomes
- Develop and configure modules (ITSM, CMDB, HRSD), building flows, business rules, UI policies and Service Portal components
- Implement and maintain integrations using REST, SOAP, LDAP and SSO to ensure data consistency between systems
- Optimise platform performance and reliability through code review, automated testing and routine maintenance
- Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks and configuration governance to support audits and knowledge transfer
- Train and support internal users and process owners to increase adoption of automated workflows and the service portal
Your profile
Essential skills
- Proven hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform configuration and development, including ITSM and CMDB modules
- Strong JavaScript and Glide API skills, plus working knowledge of HTML/CSS for Service Portal work
- Experience building integrations with REST and SOAP, and working with LDAP and SSO for authentication and directory sync
- Solid understanding of ITIL v3/v4 practices and how to map ITIL processes to ServiceNow workflows
- Able to produce clear technical designs, documentation and to work directly with business stakeholders and support teams
Certifications
- ITIL Foundation preferred
- ServiceNow System Administrator or Application Developer certification is an asset
