A federal independent public administration running a multi-project modernisation programme needs a senior Solution Engineer with a strong Java cloud engineering background and proven experience as a scrum/agile delivery master. The programme delivers a greenfield eDossier platform built on APIs, microservices and event-driven architecture, and the role requires hands-on work across Java SE10+, eventing, and Azure DevOps to guide delivery and implementation.
The mission
The programme is a multi-project modernisation with a tight roadmap and cross-team dependencies, delivering new cloud-native services that expose APIs and integrate via microservices and event sourcing. Work is organised in multidisciplinary teams made up of senior experts; the technical landscape centres on Java SE10+, API-first design, microservices, event-driven systems and Azure DevOps pipelines.
You will act as a hands-on Solution Engineer and Scrum/Agile Delivery Master embedded in an expert delivery team. Day-to-day you will coordinate sprint delivery, define and review API designs, shape event-driven solutions, and use Azure DevOps to maintain sprint boards, CI/CD pipelines and a medium-term release calendar. Your work will connect design decisions to delivery outcomes and help the programme meet its delivery horizons through practical technical leadership.
Your responsibilities
- Lead sprint delivery and releases, ensuring predictable outcomes by maintaining Azure DevOps pipelines, sprint boards and a rolling release calendar
- Drive API and microservice design decisions that reduce operational risk, increase reusability and meet security and performance targets
- Coordinate event-driven architecture implementation, including event sourcing and event handling patterns, to ensure reliable data flows between services
- Mentor and support engineers during implementation, performing design reviews and contributing code when needed to unblock delivery
- Identify alternative technical approaches, produce clear recommendations and quantify trade-offs for stakeholders
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to align delivery on value and dependencies
Your profile
Essential skills
- Expert level (10+ years) in software engineering with substantial hands-on experience in Java SE and Java SE10+
- 10 years hands-on experience designing and developing APIs and 10 years building and integrating microservices
- 5+ years hands-on experience as a scrum/agile delivery master, ideally combined with hands-on development or architecture work in greenfield projects
- 5+ years hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, including event sourcing and event handling
- 3+ years hands-on experience delivering cloud-native projects and 3+ years using Azure DevOps for agile delivery
- Practical experience implementing agile frameworks such as SAFe and LeSS in delivery contexts
- Ability to propose technical alternatives and make contextual recommendations, with strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
