Part time 1/5 !!! Lead the final, high-impact stage of a legacy-to-modern FileMaker migration in Bruxelles and make a measurable production impact. As a Consultance FileMaker you will apply deep expertise across FileMaker 5.5 → 19 and FileMaker Server, plus MySQL integration, to deliver a smooth go‑live and effective knowledge transfer to the internal team.
Role Overview
This senior consulting engagement places you at the centre of a strategic migration for a major public-sector organisation based in Bruxelles, Belgium. You will validate and adapt the data model, optimize performance, prepare and execute data export/import, configure FileMaker Server 19, design MySQL synchronization for web publishing, and provide hands-on support during production cutover. The mission starts with six planned intervention days (on-site and remote) and can extend depending on progress and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate and refine the FileMaker data model built by project specialists, recommending structural changes that improve integrity and scalability in FileMaker 19.
- Benchmark and optimize application and server performance, delivering measurable improvements to response times and concurrent-user handling.
- Plan, prepare and execute the export/import migration from FileMaker 5/5.5 to FileMaker 19 with thorough verification, data reconciliation and rollback plans.
- Audit and tune FileMaker Server 19 settings (backups, security, resource allocation) to maximise stability and uptime for early production.
- Design and implement a reliable synchronization mechanism between FileMaker and the MySQL environment used for public web publishing, including mapping rules and conflict resolution.
- Support the in-house team during cutover and early production, troubleshooting issues on-site or remotely and providing documented knowledge transfer sessions.
Required Skills
- Senior-level track record migrating FileMaker applications across major versions, including experience with FileMaker 5.5, FileMaker 10 and FileMaker 19.
- Strong command of FileMaker Server 19 administration, performance tuning, backup/restore procedures and security configuration.
- Proven ability to redesign or adapt FileMaker data models for modern versions while preserving data integrity.
- Hands-on experience integrating FileMaker with MySQL, including export/import pipelines, data mapping and sync logic.
- Problem-solving skills for production troubleshooting and the ability to create clear documentation and deliver effective knowledge transfer to technical teams.
