The organisation is a large public-sector IT environment running SAP ECC under a RISE hosting model and preparing a migration to S/4HANA. This role exists to provide senior-level SAP BC / SAP Basis expertise for system administration, SAP Cloud ALM monitoring, and integrations with SAP BTP and third-party systems.
The mission
You will join the internal SAP technical team responsible for the end-to-end technical operation of SAP landscapes, including on-premise and cloud components. The environment includes SAP ECC under RISE, HANA and Oracle databases, Azure-hosted application instances, and SAP Cloud ALM for monitoring. The migration from ECC RISE to S/4HANA is an active programme, and technical readiness, sizing and cutover support are key deliverables.
On a day-to-day basis you will own SAP BC and SAP Basis activities: system configuration, performance tuning, transports, backups and system refreshes across DEV, QAS and PRD. You will work with the SAP teamlead and department head, coordinate with infrastructure and managed-service partners, and provide technical reviews for migration and upgrade tasks. Expected interactions include technical handovers, runbook updates and hands-on execution of maintenance windows.
Your responsibilities
- Lead technical administration of SAP ECC under RISE, ensuring system availability and performance through proactive monitoring and tuning.
- Execute and validate system refreshes, client copies, backups and restorations to maintain usable DEV and QAS landscapes.
- Manage transports end-to-end, resolve dependency conflicts and enforce IT governance on deployment pipelines.
- Configure and maintain integrations, including RFCs, file transfers and web service interfaces, and troubleshoot integration errors between SAP and external systems.
- Implement and operate SAP Cloud ALM for monitoring, alerts and KPI reporting, and integrate cALM with ITSM and ticketing processes.
- Configure SAP Cloud Connector and secure connectivity for SAP BTP projects, and provide technical support for BTP-based extensions.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Minimum 7 years' experience in SAP Basis / SAP BC administration, with hands-on implementation, upgrade and maintenance history.
- Practical administration experience with HANA and Oracle databases, including backup, restore and optimisation.
- Operational experience with Unix/Linux and Windows server environments.
- Proven experience with SAP RISE environments and participation in at least one SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration.
- Strong knowledge of SAP transport management, system copies, kernel updates, support package and note application.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise multiple deliverables and communicate clearly with technical teams and suppliers.
