A public-sector ICT operator responsible for modernising data use is updating its five-year Data Roadmap and needs an Enterprise Data Architect to lead the architecture workstream. The role focuses on designing scalable data architecture (hub, lakehouse, data mesh), establishing governance and security constraints including data sovereignty, and assessing cloud and DevOps maturity across multi-organisation data services, with hands-on experience in Databricks, Snowflake and Terraform.
The mission
You will join a multidisciplinary programme that defines the next Data Roadmap and the target data platform for several administrations and services. The technical landscape combines on-premises systems, cloud workloads across Azure/AWS/GCP, data processing on Databricks and managed storage such as Snowflake. Deliverables include AS-IS cartography, a TO-BE data architecture and an actionnable, prioritised roadmap that embeds governance, security and sobriety principles.
Day to day you will lead the architecture branch within a small team of consultants and stakeholders, run discovery workshops, produce detailed system and data flow maps, and draft the target architecture (data hub, lakehouse, API layers). You will evaluate cloud and DevOps maturity, recommend infrastructure-as-code patterns with Terraform, and highlight where AI and machine learning use cases should be integrated into the platform.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a complete AS-IS cartography and the target TO-BE data architecture, producing clear artefacts for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Produce a prioritised, actionable Data Roadmap that sequences work across architecture, governance and operations
- Design scalable data platform patterns (hub, lakehouse, APIs) and select appropriate cloud and managed service components such as Databricks and Snowflake
- Evaluate cloud, security and DevOps maturity and define concrete improvements including CI/CD pipelines and IaC with Terraform
- Integrate data sovereignty, security and digital sobriety constraints into architectural decisions and trade-offs
- Identify and specify high-value AI and machine learning integration points, defining required data products and operational requirements
Your profile
Essential skills
- Proven experience as an enterprise or senior data architect, delivering AS-IS/TO-BE cartography and roadmaps for complex organisations
- Deep knowledge of data architecture patterns: hub, lakehouse, data mesh, metadata catalogues and access control models
- Practical experience deploying and operating cloud data platforms across Azure, AWS or GCP
- Hands-on familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
- Capability to assess and specify DevOps and CI/CD practices for data pipelines
- Strong stakeholder facilitation and technical communication skills, able to translate architecture choices into deliverable plans
