A major Belgian public health and social security organisation is running multi-sprint projects to redesign core business processes that touch healthcare providers and citizens. This medior Functional Analyst will work on process modelling and requirements refinement using Agile/Scrum practices, BPMN diagrams and UML, and will translate stakeholder needs into clear use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.
The mission
You will join a cross-functional delivery team of analysts, product owners and developers focused on process automation and digital services used by tens of thousands of stakeholders. Current work includes mapping existing processes, designing the target process in BPMN, and preparing implementable artefacts that feed straight into development sprints and test suites.
Day to day you will facilitate workshops with business users, capture requirements through storytelling and use cases, and produce detailed deliverables such as BPMN process models, UML diagrams, user stories and test cases. You will work within an Agile/Scrum cadence, ensure traceability from requirements to implementation, and participate in validation and testing to confirm the delivered solution matches the documented process.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate workshops and meetings with business stakeholders to extract, clarify and prioritise process requirements, producing actionable outcomes.
- Produce and maintain BPMN process models, UML diagrams, use cases and user stories that developers and testers can use directly.
- Define acceptance criteria and test cases, and support testing cycles to verify the implemented solution aligns with the documented process.
- Translate complex, cross-departmental concepts into clear, structured requirements using storytelling techniques and concrete examples.
- Ensure requirements traceability across backlog items, design artefacts and test results, reducing rework during implementation.
- Review delivered features with the Business and Development teams, closing feedback loops and updating documentation accordingly.
Your profile
Essential skills
- 3+ years experience as a functional or business analyst, ideally within public sector or regulated environments.
- Proven experience with BPMN process modelling and UML for solution design.
- Strong practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery, writing user stories and defining acceptance criteria.
- Ability to write clear use cases, create user story mapping and produce testable requirements.
- Skilled at facilitating workshops, active listening and storytelling to turn stakeholder input into concrete requirements.
- Familiarity with testing practices, preparing test scenarios and validating implementation against requirements.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in IT, business analysis, computer science or equivalent practical experience.
