A major Belgian federal public institution is modernising its information and knowledge management on Microsoft 365, focusing on SharePoint Online and Teams. This senior SharePoint consultant role exists to define and implement a sustainable SharePoint architecture, a pragmatic metadata strategy NL/FR, and automated lifecycle workflows that improve findability and governance across the organisation.
The mission
The programme delivers a coherent information architecture for SharePoint Online and Teams, including hubs, segmented collaboration spaces, content types, navigation and integration with the existing intranet platform. Work is done alongside an Information and Knowledge Management team and central IT architecture and security teams, targeting consistent search, access control and multilingual (NL/FR) support across the estate.
On a day-to-day basis you will structure and document the target SharePoint architecture, translate functional guidelines into technical implementations, and validate technical feasibility with security and IAM. You will design metadata models and automated provisioning and lifecycle processes using Microsoft 365 tools, run technical workshops for internal teams, and hand over standards and operational documentation to IT and knowledge-management stakeholders.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and document a detailed SharePoint architecture and governance model that defines hubs, site structures, content types and navigation, ensuring consistency and scalability.
- Define and implement a SharePoint metadata strategy NL/FR, balancing metadata and folder structures to improve discoverability while minimising user overhead.
- Design and deliver automated provisioning and lifecycle workflows using Power Automate and templates, reducing manual configuration and improving compliance.
- Specify and implement an access model in collaboration with IAM and security, organising Microsoft 365 groups and role-based access aligned with minimal privilege principles.
- Optimise search and navigation by configuring Microsoft Search, hub architecture and metadata-driven ranking, improving findability across sites and libraries.
- Run targeted technical workshops, produce implementation standards and ensure knowledge transfer to IKM and central IT teams.
Your profile
Essential skills
- Senior SharePoint consultant capability with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in SharePoint and Teams architecture and configuration.
- Proven track record of document management implementations, at least 5 years of experience designing library structures and lifecycle rules.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation and workflow design and implementation, including Power Automate or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in metadata management and taxonomies, able to design pragmatic tagging and term store approaches.
- At least 1 year of experience with M365 access and group management, and 5 years working in complex organisations such as government or large enterprise.
- Strong communicator able to translate functional requirements into robust technical designs and clear documentation.
